JARDIN NOCTURNE

"Dora's work struck me from the moment I first glimpsed one of her canvases on the storage racks of Seimandi & Leprieur. The rich yet delicate colors and the energetic strokes of pastel on that one small corner was enough to ignite my curiosity and ultimately led me to form a deep respect and love for her work. 

 

I am so honored to have had the pleasure of curating her upcoming show at Seimandi and Leprieur. One of her collections, Jardin Nocturne, so beautifully describes the juxtaposition of the richness and brevity of life as it cycles through the seasons. To me, it is a nod to the winter equinox, where daylight is softened, but not bleak. It is an invitation to fold inwards, towards introspection, to find beauty and inspiration even on the shortest days, and in the depths of darkness. Floral wisps and misty leaves swirl amongst the shadows of the pieces I chose, and they seem to say, in order for flowers to dance in the light, they must first be reborn beneath the earth."
