ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
To mark its inauguration, Seimandi & Leprieur Gallery is presenting Fertilum, a solo exhibition by Ricardo Ozier-Lafontaine. The artist is French Caribbean and creates drawings and paintings that bridge abstraction and figuration. His large-format works explore themes of identity, memory, and ancestral presence.
Working primarily in black and white, Ozier-Lafontaine develops intricate compositions through intuitive linework and layered textures. His visual language draws from architecture, ritual, and symbolic forms, positioning his practice at the intersection of drawing, visual storytelling, and conceptual art. The monochrome palette serves as a deliberate means of focus and restraint, inviting contemplation rather than spectacle.
His hybrid figures—referred to as Intercessors—occupy a space between dream and structure, evoking sacred architecture, ancestral masks, and modern design.
Active for over two decades, Ozier-Lafontaine has exhibited in France, Germany, Belgium, the Caribbean, and the United States, including at Tropiques Atrium national scene and Fondation Clément in Martinique, as well as galleries and art spaces in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Albuquerque, and Tallahassee.
