Lives and works in Paris, France
Contemporary Photographer
Anabell Guerrero is a French-Venezuelan photographer whose work deeply explores themes of collective memory, exile, identity, and the often invisible impacts of political histories on bodies and territories. Initially working as a photojournalist, she has developed a distinctive documentary practice that combines narrative rigor with poetic sensitivity.
Her artistic approach goes beyond photography, incorporating installations that blend images, texts, and sculptures to create immersive experiences engaging viewers in history, memory, and cultural resistance. Guerrero’s projects frequently focus on communities affected by displacement and colonial legacies, weaving together portraiture and poetry to evoke the weight of unseen and silenced histories.
Her work has been exhibited widely across Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean in prestigious institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Maison des Métallos in Paris, the Fondation Clément and CMAC in Martinique, and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Caracas. Among her notable series are Totems, Souvenances, Les Pierrotines, and Œil Mémoire, which highlight Caribbean collective memory and resistance.
In 2021, Guerrero received the Prix Roger Pic from the Société Civile des Auteurs Multimédia (SCAM) for her project La Zone, recognizing her innovative approach to documentary art. Her photographs are held in both public and private collections, reflecting her international recognition.
Beyond her exhibitions, she collaborates with cultural institutions and interdisciplinary teams, combining photography, poetry, and performance to deepen dialogue on postcolonial identities and invisible histories. Guerrero continues to live and work in Paris, committed to exploring complex narratives of memory and identity through her evocative and engaged artistic language.
